Bat Masterson

NBC-TV Western series (1958-1961), starring Gene Barry as the legendary "Bat Masterson". His TV reputation was further enhanced by a derby hat, gold-topped cane, custom-built revolver, and fancy New York-style clothes. Add to this mix a catchy theme song (performed over the credits), and it all added up to a highly successful television show. Episodes covered the territory from Kansas to California, and featured pretty women, gambling, fist fights and the required number of shootouts that kept TV audiences happy, and coming back for more. The nickname, "Bat", along with his cane, derby hat and pistol, were presented to Mr. Masterson by the grateful citizens of Dodge City, for Bat's services there as a lawman. NOTE: Bill Baldwin was the announcer/narrator for the series.
