Gray Ghost, The
Syndicated CBS-TV series (1957-1958), based upon historical facts covering the exploits of Confederate Major John Singleton Mosby. The Major used guerrilla warfare tactics to mount daring raids against the Union forces, in Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, during the Civil War (1861-1865). Each episode opened with Tod Andrews (Major Mosby) speaking over the titles: "We took our men from Texas, Kentucky and Virginia..."and ended with "Gray Ghost is what they call me, John Mosby is my name!" Historical consultant for the series was Virgil Carrington Jones, author ("Gray Ghosts And Rebel Raiders" and "Ranger Mosby"), and leading expert on Major Mosby at that time.
