Buddy Holly

1950s Rock *n' Roll singer, composer and musician, born Charles Hardin Holley, on September 7, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas. His life was tragically cut short, on Feb. 3, 1959, at age 22, in a Beech-craft Bonanza (N3794N) plane crash, shortly after taking off from the airport in Clear Lake, Iowa. Killed in that same disastrous event were Ritchie Valens (17), "The Big Bopper" (a.k.a. Jiles Perry "J.P." Richardson, 28), and Roger Peterson, the 21-year-old pilot. Buddy Holly may have perished that night, but he is most definitely not forgotten. His record catalog survives to this very day as a continuing legacy to the music business. Holly's hit recordings include "That'll Be The Day", "Oh, Boy", "Not Fade Away", "Words of Love", "Maybe Baby", "Think It Over", "Peggy Sue", "Everday", and "It Doesn't Matter More".
